Shanganagh Castle

Shanganagh Castle in Dún Laoghaire, Dublin, is one of Europe’s largest Passivhaus certified public housing development, delivering 550 residential units across 449,068 ft². Designed by ABK Architects, the project targets high energy efficiency and environmental sustainability to meet strict Passivhaus standards.

MosArt, as Passivhaus consultant, was responsible for energy modelling, thermal bridge assessment, and DEAP evaluation. Key challenges include managing 11 building blocks, delivering under a Design Build contract, devising an accessible ventilation strategy, preventing summer overheating with district heating, and designing brick facades with external cavities.

Completion is expected in 2025.
