University of Manchester, Fallowfield Campus

The Fallowfield Campus redevelopment will deliver up to 3,300 modern student bedspaces across the former sites of Owens Park, Oak House and Woolton Hall at the University of Manchester. Working with the Viridis Living consortium, comprising Equitix, GRAHAM and Derwent FM, Mosart is providing specialist Passivhaus design consultancy to support the project in targeting full Passivhaus certification at what could rank among the largest certified schemes in the world.

Designed by Sheppard Robson, the scheme is set within a car-free, landscaped campus environment organised into five distinct neighbourhoods. Passivhaus design ensures ultra-low energy demand, superior indoor air quality and consistent thermal comfort year-round, outcomes of particular significance at this scale of student occupancy.

Construction commenced in 2026 with phased handover planned through to 2030. Fallowfield represents a significant step in the mainstreaming of Passivhaus across large-scale institutional residential development in the UK.
